Hi, I'm Aleks Filmore

Heartbreak is not a failure. It's a field study.
Honest to a fault, funny on purpose.
Red flags processed in Brussels, exported worldwide.

I write queer memoirs that turn dating disasters into data — so you can skip the fieldwork.

The Short Version

I'm a queer author living in Brussels, turning my dating disasters into literature that hopefully saves you from repeating my mistakes.

My debut memoir "The Worst Boyfriends Ever" is a collection of 25 red-flag chronicles that reads like your group chat after someone asks "wait, what happened with that guy?"

That experiment became a queer dating memoir that ranked #1 in Gay Fiction and #1 in Gay Humor — which says a lot about both my readers and my taste in men.

When I'm not writing about romance gone wrong, I'm probably planning my next book, avoiding dating apps, or explaining to people that yes, Brussels has good coffee.

Random Facts

  • Once rewrote a breakup text into a short story.
  • My love language is editing your dating profile.
  • I keep a spreadsheet of emotional mistakes — for research.
  • Collecting red flags counts as fieldwork.
  • Ships signed books from Brussels with terrible handwriting.

My Writing Philosophy

I don't write about love. I write about what happens after it stops behaving.

Honest, not polite. I write about dating like we actually experience it: messy, confusing, sometimes hilarious, often painful.

Queer experiences, universal feelings. While my stories come from a queer perspective, the feelings of hope, disappointment, and "what the hell was I thinking" translate across all identities.

Boundaries you can actually use. Every disaster taught me something. I share those lessons without the sanctimonious self-help tone.

My goal isn't healing. It's accuracy.
